School Health Program

In the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, health services in schools are provided by professional staff from Public Health and the Primary Health Care Networks. Health Region staff work with school staff to promote school based, health promotion activities which encourage students to adopt a healthy lifestyle and take responsibility for their own health.

Individual student counselling is available by referral from teachers, students and parents.

Specific services that may be offered in the school are:

  • immunizations
  • hearing screening by referral
  • dental health information
  • nutrition information
  • information on specific health issues health promotion strategies
