Orthotics Prosthetics Team
Orthotics Prosthetics Department Team Members include experienced professional, technical and administrative support. The team is composed of Certified Prosthetists and Orthotists; Orthotic Prosthetic Technicians; Orthotics/Prosthetics Senior; Office Coordinator; Storeperson; Fitter Clerks; Office Administrative Assistants and a Manager. Duties and Responsibilities of the Certified Orthotist and/or Prosthetist
As the practitioner responsible for all patient care, the certified practitioner independently provides or supervises the provision of comprehensive orthotic and/or prosthetic care. This includes clinical assessment, patient management, practice management and technical implementation activities and services. In addition, the certified prosthetist and/or orthotist are obligated to support and conform to professional responsibilities which promote and assure the overall welfare of the patient and the integrity of the profession.
Duties and Responsibilities of the registered Orthotic/Prosthetic Technician
Under the direction of a C.B.C.P.O. certified practitioner a registered orthotic and/or prosthetic technician is competent to perform technical assessment and management tasks. The technician also independently carries out practice management and technical implementation activities and services. In addition, the registered prosthetic and/or orthotic technician support and conform to professional responsibilities which promote and assure the overall welfare of the patient and the integrity of the profession.
The Orthopaedic Shoemaker will assess, cast, fabricate and fit custom orthotic footwear, fit off the shelf prescribed orthopaedic, diabetic, adaptive footwear, custom corrective and accommodative arch supports.
