Laundry Services
Families are encouraged to do your personal laundry, but a laundry service can be provided. Clothing must be labeled.

Call System
A call system by your bed is provided for your use when assistance is required. Intercoms near the head of the bed may be used by nursing staff to answer your requests or the nurse will come to your room.

All rooms have phone jacks and phones can be rented from SaskTel. It is your responsibility to make arrangements for hookups and disconnections directly with SaskTel.

Pay telephones are available for use in each patient solarium on the nursing unit. A hands-free phone is available on the north end of Unit 3-3.

Televisions are set up for viewing in patient solariums on each unit. Patients may bring in their own televisions; however, earplugs should be used so your roommate is not disturbed.

Cable TV Rental
Cable TV rental is available. Contact your nurse or unit clerk for details.

Leave of Absence
Leaves from the facility are encouraged. Whenever possible overnight visits with family and friends, meals outside the centre and other excursions are a welcome change and contribute to your social and physical rehabilitation. At least 24 hours notice is required before an overnight leave; so appropriate arrangements can be made. Please notify the nurse.

Visiting Hours - Open Family Presence
The RQHR is joining all other health regions across the province in supporting families as equal partners in their loved one’s care, and has approved an Open Family Presence Policy for all RQHR facilities beginning in 2016-17. To learn more about Open Family Presenceclick here.

It is wise for visitors to check your schedule before planning a visit since you may be in therapy. Your family and friends, who are involved in your care, are encouraged to attend therapy so they can learn and participate in your program.

Smoking Regulations
Wascana Rehabilitation Centre is a non-smoking facility.

Food Services
If you can manage your meal tray independently, or are accompanied by family or friends, you are encouraged to have your meals in the Windows Cafeteria dining room, located on the second floor. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for a client's meal in the cafeteria.

Meals are served in the nursing units if you are unable to go to the cafeteria. Mealtimes are 8:00 a.m., 12 noon, and 5:00 p.m.

If someone will be taking you to the cafeteria for a meal, we ask that you tell the unit clerk or nurse so your meal tray can be canceled. A nourishment cart with snacks also goes to the units mid-morning, mid-afternoon and mid-evening.

Vending machines, located in the Windows Cafeteria, provide sandwiches, snacks and beverages and are accessible at all times.

Gift Shop
The gift shop "Whitley's What Nots" is on the main floor, in the main concourse. Hours of service are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10:00 a.m. noon to 6:00 p.m.

Newspapers, stamps, toiletries and snacks are available. The gift shop also carries some aids, which assist with independence like reachers, long-handled shoehorns and elastic laces.

Hairdressing services are available Tuesday to Friday in the Centre's salon, second floor, north wing. Appointments can be made through the nursing unit clerk. Cost of the service is your responsibility.

Mail and Flowers
Incoming mail and flowers are delivered to your bedside. Stamped outgoing letters can be left at the nursing desk for posting. Assistance with letter writing can be arranged through volunteers.

A small library is maintained in Room 2-481 on the second floor of the north wing. This library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please return what you borrow.

Aside from the permanent reading material, the Regina Public Library circulates a number of new and large print books every three weeks. Cassette tape recorders, video tapes and movies are also available.

Security Services
Security Services are available on a 24-hour basis. Security can be reached by calling 766-5570.

Fire Drills
Fire drills are held periodically at various times of the day or night. The purpose of these drills is to familiarize staff with emergency procedures. Please follow staff instructions when a drill occurs.

Chaplaincy Services
Roman Catholic and Protestant chaplains are on call to provide counseling to you and your family upon request. Pastoral Care volunteers visit all units on a regular basis. The Director of Pastoral Care for the Regina Health District can provide additional information on pastoral care services. Call 766-3572 for more information.

Each Sunday, in the chapel on the second floor north wing, a Roman Catholic Mass is held at 10:30 a.m. and an interfaith service is held at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
